Artimo is a game that helps Arabic speakers learn the articles of German nouns: der, die and das. The app is not out yet. On this website, getartimo.com, you can try a small part of it and sign up to hear when it launches. This policy explains what personal data the website collects, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Artimo is run from Germany by its founder. We decide how and why the data described here is used. For any question about your data, or to use any of your rights, email [email protected].
What we collect
When you sign up
- Your email address, your level of German (not started yet, A1, A2, B1 or B2+) and your phone (Android or iPhone). These three are needed to sign up.
- If you choose to answer it, why you are learning German (Ausbildung, study, work, the Goethe exam, or something else).
- Where you came from: the campaign tag on the link you followed (for example
meta:short-a), or the website that sent you, or “direct”. - The language of the page you signed up on, and when you signed up and last updated your answers.
Automatically, when you visit
- What every browser sends with a request: your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for and the page that sent you.
- How you use the pages: the pages and sections you reach, the buttons and links you tap, how you play the games on the site, the steps of the sign-up form (including the answers you tap), taps on the WhatsApp group link and on the links to our Facebook Page and Instagram account, and taps on the buttons that share Artimo with a friend.
- Session recordings and heatmaps: a replay of how you scroll, move and tap on the page. Everything typed into the form is masked, and the email field is hidden from recordings altogether.
- When you submit the form, signals from your browser that tell people from bots.
- Identifiers kept in cookies and browser storage (see “Cookies and similar technologies”), and the ad click id that Meta adds to a link when you arrive from one of our ads.
We do not ask for your name, your phone number or any payment details.
Why we use it
- To tell you when Artimo launches and to invite you to test it. We only email you about Artimo.
- To understand who is interested, such as their level and why they learn German, so we build the right app and plan the launch.
- To see how people use the website, and to fix and improve it.
- To measure and improve our ads on Facebook and Instagram, and to show our ads to the right people, for example to people who played the game here.
- To protect the sign-up form from bots and abuse.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for anything other than these purposes.
Cookies and similar technologies
The website uses the cookies and browser storage below. Cloudflare Web Analytics uses none.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | Meta | Recognises your browser, to measure our ads and build ad audiences | 90 days |
_fbc | Meta | Remembers the Meta ad you arrived from | 90 days |
ph_…_posthog (cookie and local storage) | PostHog | An anonymous id for your browser and your visit, so usage events and recordings fit together | 1 year |
artimo.src | Artimo (session storage) | Where you came from, sent with your sign-up | Until you close the tab |
artimo.utmc, artimo.fbclid | Artimo (session storage) | The ad campaign and the ad click you arrived from | Until you close the tab |
artimo.joined | Artimo (session storage) | That you signed up in this tab, counted with taps on the WhatsApp group link | Until you close the tab |
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser’s settings at any time; the website still works without them.
How long we keep it
- Sign-up data: until Artimo launches and for a reasonable period after, so we can invite you to test it and tell you about the launch, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
- Usage data, recordings and ad data: for as long as PostHog, Meta and Cloudflare keep them under their own retention rules.
- The IP address our sign-up server sees is held only briefly in its memory, to slow down repeated sign-ups, and is not stored by us.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it, which also takes you off the list;
- stop using your data to measure our ads or build ad audiences.
Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with. A short message is enough, and we answer within one month. These rights come from Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020) and, if you are in the European Union, from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You may also complain to a data protection authority: in Egypt, the Personal Data Protection Center; in the EU, the authority in your country.
To limit ad tracking yourself, block or clear cookies in your browser, and use Meta’s ad preferences to choose how your activity is used for ads.
International transfers
Artimo is run from Germany, and our providers work around the world. Your data may therefore be processed outside Egypt, including in the European Union and the United States. Where data leaves the EU, it is protected by the safeguards these providers offer, such as the EU’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
The website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
